Being a social media strategist it is my job to understand all types of content. One of those types is user-generated content or UGC. UGC is great for creating authentic engagement and building a community around your brand. Let’s talk about why it is essential. I will give you tangible strategies to leverage UGC effectively. Here is how User-Generated Content Authenticates your brand.

UGC is a form of content created by users or your followers rather than you or your brand. It includes images, videos, and reviews. UGC is just like word-of-mouth marketing when a satisfied customer advocates for your brand. They willingly share their experience with their followers and friends.

how user generated content authenticates your brand.
  1. Authentic: Your customers trust recommendations from their peers. UGC created by loyal customers creates authenticity for your brand. You are creating a great sense of community among your followers and audience.
  2. Cheap: High-quality content takes time to make and can be expensive. UGC allows you to have a stream of diverse content without extensive resources
  3. Engaging: UGC is great for getting the conversation started. When other users see their content featured, they will engage with it more. They are also more likely to share it with their followers. In turn, this gives you more reach.
  1. Create an Experience: Inspire your followers to create and share content from an experience you designed. Other ways to get participation include contests, challenges, and interactive content. For example: Say you have a restaurant and you tell people you want to see their food pics to win a free meal.
  2. Features User Content: Use that content on your social media channels, website, or even in store. Using followers’ content acknowledges and celebrates your community. You validate their efforts and hopefully get others to participate.
  3. Branded Hashtags: Do you have a branded hashtag? Create one for your brand or campaign and tell users to use it in their posts. You will then be able to track your UGC contributions but creates a sense of belonging in your community.
  4. Engage: Engage with the creators who make content about your brand. Like, comment, and repost it to show you appreciate it. Offer rewards for creating UGC. This can be discounts, spotlights, free stuff, or just a call with you.
Encourage user generated content of your products.
  1. Story: UGC tells a story about your brand that your people want to hear. Content could be how your product works, the problem it solves, or even success stories with your product. The content becomes more relatable when it comes from a community member.
  2. Social Proof: If you are looking for a great way to sway your audience into purchasing your product, UGC is great social proof. Including Testimonials, reviews, and images or videos of your product in action. These will have an impact on your customers’ purchasing decisions.
  3. Insights: Gain insights from your customers by analyzing UGC. Find out what their pain points, behaviors, and preferences are. Then you have great data to create marketing strategies and improve your products or services.
  4. Build your community: Actively engage with UGC creators and encourage them to interact with your audience as well. This creates a greater sense of community. Your users will create strong bonds and connections through your brand.
Build your community with UGC
